Intangible cultural heritage – conservation, safe-keeping and popularization

The intangible cultural heritage has become a subject of specific attention after the accepted Convention from UNESCO in the year 2003. The idea is to preserve and safe-keep the knowledge and skills linked with each society’s traditions – holidays, rituals, crafts, songs, dances, instrumental music, cultural practices and cultural technologies (knowledge of nature and the relationships between societies and nature), cultural landscapes (the conservation of natural environment into an inhabited by people environment). The separation between material and intangible heritage is relative as they are related to one another – a holiday includes rituals, costumes, sequentiality of actions which can be seen, have a material utterance but a part of them “dissapear” after the act, and others remain in time permanently. The conservation of intangible cultural heritage – in museums, expositions, in archives, in publications, on internet sites, as practices, safe-keeping – development of cultural politics, inclusion into formal and unformal education, maintaining it as a part of modern cultures or in some other way, as well as it’s popularization are in support of the idea of conserving the cultural variety of mankind as treasury.

The category “Intangible cultural heritage” is open for movies, that touch on problems of preserving, safe-keeping, and popularization of intangible cultural heritage”: Does the modern person need relations to the past and what history is being built nowadays, can the intangible heritage be shared or can it build walls and how do we communicate with the “images” of the intangible heritage.
